Charles Valentin Alkan was the most remarkable French pianistand composer of the19th century. He created a lot of pianomasterpieces, and was known of gorgeous techniques. Unfortunately,he was quietly forgotten by some reasons.Etude OP.39in minor of Alkan was written in1857, and it waswritten in twelve different minor keys. No.8,9and10, Concerto for SoloPiano has some distinguishing features such as complex musical form,enormous scale, and also with stunning sound effects. Especially, thesolo piano was used as an orchestra, which fully develops piano music’ssymphonic quality as well as contributing to the development of pianoskills.The article was starting from these three etudes of Etude OP.39and progressing through style, musical form, and specific analysis. In thisarticle, the writer combined her own musical experiences anddiscovered some of Alkans unique writing style and playing techniques.This essay aims to provide some useful music experiences of playingAlkan’s works, and to arouse more people being interested in Alkanand his masterpieces.
