The heroes which was directed by the famous director Zhang Yimou has been released since2002, the Chinese blockbuster has received greatest concern in Chinese film market. Just the film like Course of The Golden Flower, Chibi, Banquet, The Flower of War quickly changed the industrial pattern and historical trend of Chinese film, which add a beautiful scene to the developing history of China’s cultural industry. Since the Chinese blockbuster has been the main force of box office, it not only attracts numerous audiences walking into the theatre, but also appears many estate business circle of theatre soon in cities, even attracts the banks and risk investment from both in home and abroad to invest the film industry, what’s more, such a phenomenon urges the government to issue new policies for reforming and improving the system of film industry. The Chinese commercial film, especially the Chinese blockbuster has made great achievements for pushing industrialization of Chinese film and promote Chinese film with a lot of questionings which exists a huge contrast between excellent commercial benefits and low-grade comments while obtaining a higher box office. It just means that, Chinese film exists a jillion problems, such as imperfection of industry chain and being disappointed and puzzled by the film contents. That’s to say, the issues of Chinese blockbuster contain the box office of forgery, unsound film classification system and insufficient subsequent products of the film. Thereby, it leads out a series of cultural phenomenon and discussion about Chinese blockbuster.The object of this paper is Chinese blockbuster, which analyzes its background of creation, development stage and current situation, and then we can indicate the existing consumerism of Chinese film’s maternal culture and the cultural characteristic of post colonialism from theory aspects, above all, this paper puts forward some suggestions for Chinese film sound development by analyzing their interrelations and problems. The primary coverages are listed as follow:In prolegomenon part, we expound the problem posing background, purpose of research and significance, research train of through, related concepts, the innovation of this paper, especially elaborates the opinions and disputes on this research from both domestic and overseas scholars.In the first chapter, we make a definition on Chinese blockbuster according to the pertinent literatures and then expound its historical background from social, cultural, political aspects, so finally, we divide the Chinese blockbuster into four period: previous blockbuster, stages in germination, period of expansion and new period.In the second chapter, we introduce the background of consumerism and the cultural post-colonialism from the point of penetration on consumerism of cultural studies, and then we make a conclusion that the Chinese blockbuster exists severe cultural crisis after demonstrating the characteristic of consumerism and post-colonialism by using the film text.In the third chapter, according to a series of data on economy and industry can indicate that this kind of cultural crisis will lead to some industrial predicament behind the prosperous surface on Chinese blockbuster, especially the issues on contribution of box office, viewing number, competition with foreign blockbusters and so on.In the fourth chapter, we put forward the coping strategy on the basis of the former issues, the Chinese blockbuster must alter the direction which should not give priority to entertainment and consumption. In contrast, we should derive nourishment from Chinese traditional culture and establish national film brand for the industry development of Chinese film.In the fifth chapter, we just make a conclusion on this paper.
