Empathy for pain is a psychological phenomenon of close relation in people’s daily life. It refers to the individual’s response of cognition, judgment and emotion to others. Perspective-taking is an important factor affecting the empathy for pain. The current research presents56graduate students with pictures of pain in hands and feet or in neutral state. The subjects carry out a task of pain judgment from the view of objectiveness, others or oneself, and their perception, behavior and galvanic skin data are recorded. The research intends to explore the cognitive and neural mechanism in which perspective-taking affects empathy for pain. The research shows:(1) the average value of subjective evaluation of perspective-taking for females is obvious bigger than the value of objective perspective-taking and perspective-taking of others, and there is no obvious difference in males’subjective cognition in three perspective-taking s;(2) when the individual is involved in the thinking of others’perspective-taking, the average value of subjective evaluation is obviously bigger than the females;(3) the time of imagining oneself perspective-taking is apparently shorter than the objective perspective-taking and imagining the perspective-taking of others;(4) the average time of subjects’response in unpained stimulation is much faster than that of pain stimulation;(5) the galvanic skin for females to imagining themselves of perspective-taking is apparently higher than that of the objective perspective-taking, while there are no obvious differences in three kinds of perspective-takings;(6) there are no obvious differences in response time between different genders. The research concludes:the perspective-taking affects the response of individual empathy for pain, and the subjective evaluation is higher, the time for consideration is shorter, the physiological reactions is much stronger when the individual is involved in the self-pain; there is gender difference in empathy for pain, females have better performance in empathy task with sensitive responses in subjective evaluation and galvanic skin response, while males is much more stable and their behavioral and physiological responses are not affected by perceptive-taking; the empathy evaluation for males is higher than females.
