Interventions In Tang And Song Dynasty Empresses

The empresses who plays a special role in the ancient political life is a special group of imperial power politics.The phenomenon that empresses participated in politics in the history of ancient China feudal societies never comes to a halt. Certainly, different era has different characters.they regarded Wu Zetian and empress Wei as evils while in Song dynasty, people praised the empresses who played active parts in politics. This paper attempts to apply sociological theory and structural functionalism theory interpretation of interference in domestic affairs of the Tang and Song Empresses phenomenon.The author does it from the many aspects,such as the distribution of geography, background,social affairs scope and awareness, relying on power and politics,and make the following conclusions:Interference in domestic affairs groups,we can see just the queen and the high level royal can take part in domestic affairs, the rest of the concubines had no ability or opportunity to intervene in affairs of state.In terms of geographical distribution, the empresses of Tang dynasty almost from Guanlong, Shandong, three Jiangnan region,while the Song’ gradually transfer from north to south, from northern Hebei, Henan Province, the South moved to Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Sichuan and other regions.From the birth status, the difference between Tang and Song dynasty is very obvious. The queen of the Tang dynasty are almost from the patriarch nobles, while the empress of Song dynasty from small and medium-sized bureaucracy and non-bureaucratic home.Interference in domestic affairs range from the point of view, the imperial concubines interference in domestic affairs of the range is very wide, while the Song dynasty interference in domestic affairs Empresses and more by the ancestors testimonies should not be light to basicail rigid.Interference in domestic affairs consciousness, the empresses of Tang dynasty had strong sense of activing in domestic affairs,while the emprsses of Song dynasty were restrained. But all the empresses had consciousness for the emperor complex.From the view of external forces, Empresses in Tang Dynasty mainly relied on the strength of the wife’s family, while Empresses in Song Dynasty relied on the power of the bureaucracy headed by the prime minister Group.From the view of achievements, Empresses in Tang and Song Dynasties were talented and accomplished. In the period they ruled, they had contributed to good governance, get rid of the ills, social stability, economic development, and their legacy were far more than some mediocre and incompetent emperor.
