Yanzhitui Literature Research

Yan Zhitui can be described as the most learned and the most thoughtful scholarsduring Southern and Northern dynasties, has an important position and far-reachingimpact in the history of Chinese ancient literature. All his life he experienced in theSouthern and Northern dynasties, almost had studied the North-South Dynasty’spolitic, social customs and culture life, and can put forward his own opinioncombining the reality, so the writings of Yan Zhitui are quite abundant, butunfortunately lost seriously, which has preserved only "Yan family precepts","Therecords of ghosts", five poems and "Concept of my life", especially "Yan familyprecepts" as the representative.However, most of the previous studies just putattention to the "Yan family precepts", mainly discuss its educational thought, butthe study on its literature is relatively weak, especially the study of his literarycreation is even fewer.Therefore, this paper intends to Yan Zhitui’s literaryachievements as a whole and systematic research, mainly on Yan Zhitui’s literarythought and literary creation carries out in-depth and detailed discussion, in order tomake up for experts and scholars on Yan Zhitui literature study a little too simpleregret, slightly contribute for Yan Zhitui research comprehensively deepen.The life of Yan Zhitui is separated by war, and frequently in danger of his lives.With his three subjugation as the turning point,his life is divided into three stages:Hou Jing chaos, almost killed; Xiwei broken Liang, taken prisoner; Beizhou destroyedQi, easy new master. At the same time, his writings also undertook a certain textualstudy. By exploring his family tradition of Confucianism, though that Yan Zhitui wasinfluenced by Buddhism, but is still a Confucian scholar. In addition, although YanZhitui has no intention to construct the system of literary theories, the"Familyprecepts" and the other literary creation contains a wealth of literary thought, thisarticle based on the former research, based on the text itself, summarizes five aspects:the origin of the article, the article style, literature appreciation, intellectual virtue andliterary creation. Furthermore, through exploring his representative works of the "Yanfamily precepts", its literary techniques are summarized into three points: quality ofrighteousness straight, flat without paradox; affair perfect integration, held on theevidence; make good use of contrast, blend together the compromise. Finally, the ideological content and artistic style of his novel "The records of ghosts" and poetryundertake a preliminary exploration.Whether the life experiences, thoughts, or literary creation, Yan Zhitui is apersonality. Hope this study on Yan Zhitui from a literary perspective, can become auseful attempt to promote the literature studies of the WeiJin and the southern andNorthern dynasties...
