Literature records and effects human activities in the process of exploring historycivilization. As a form of artistic expression, films emerged with the application ofmodern technology. The relationships between video and literature can be generalizedas: Literature is the major source of video creation, while recompositon is theimportant means of video creation. Novels written by AiLing Zhang possess a goodreputation of “paper movies”, for she is sensitive to color, light and music and canexpresses such unique feelings through her articles.This amazing woman born almost a century ago, but works of AiLing Zhang hasnever left us. Though researches about adaptation for Zhang’s works recent yearsmake little advance compared to1990s and early21st century, AiLing Zhang is still aheadline maker and researches on her are still in the center position.The first part of this book analyzes and collects video skills appearing in Zhang’snovels, respectively from three angles: color, light and montage. Movies andtelevisions are closely linked, thus she got lot of nutrients from movies to enrich herwriting in the ages lacking televisions, and the potential reflected in movies also goesfor the adaptation of teleplay. In the second part, induction and thinking aboutadapting Zhang’s novels for films are conducted and concluded in three aspectsrespectively: film adaptation in1980s,1990s and21st century. Hong Kong famousdirector AnHua Xu and JinPeng Guan are biggest fans of AiLing Zhang, and theyhelped bring several works of Zhang to the big screen, including Red Rose And WhiteRose, Eighteen Springs and Love In A Fallen City. The novel Gold Lock was adaptedto film by Taiwan director HangZhang Dan as well. Lust Caution, however, has won aglobal hit and the most widespread attention. The last part relates to video worksbased on Zhang’s novels by analyzing and summarizing specific works. What differsfilms from teleplays is their respective art pursuit, for teleplay is a populairetransmitting vector, and the superfluous length and capacity affect its artistic value tosome degree compared to film. That’s why teleplays is more suitable for the adaption of short or long novels. As teleplays adapted from AiLing Zhang’s novels, they arevulgarized and commercialized obviously.Whether literature or films and television programs, they are all with the purposeof improving people’s aesthetic passion and enriching the populara spiritual life.
