Speaking of Bian Zhilin, people always first think of his poetries. His poetries occupy a place in Chinese poetry. His poetries and the art of poetries are paid close attention by many experts. However, his modern poetry theories haven’t get much attention, and been covered by the glorious of his poetries. By this way, we can provide more significance for the development of Chinese modern poetries. The introduction analyses and cards the present research situation of Bian’s modern poetry theories and overviews the value and significance of topics. In the first chapter, Bian is restored in the historical context at that time to explain the formation of his theory of modern poetry theories. Poetry movement is the incentive of the formation of his theory. In addition, western symbolism and traditions of Chinese classical poetry is ideological resources. The Crescent Moon faction accelerates the formation of his theory. The second chapter illustrates Bian’s metrical theory about Chinese modern poetry. In order to reverse the tendency of extreme liberalization of the Chinese modem poetry, Bian seek a metrical road about poetry from the characteristics of modern Chinese. The third chapter investigate Bian’s new folk song theory. In1958,a vigorous new folk song movement led to a great discussion of the form of the new folk songs. Bian evaluate new folk song in a rational and objective manner, and recognize and use the new form of folk songs to develop Chinese modem poetry. But we can’t imitate mechanically. The fourth chapter investigate Bian’s translation theory on poems. Bian explore the merits and demerits of the translated poems. Translation gave birth to the occurrence of Chinese new poetry and brought about the misunderstanding of western poetic forms at the same time. Bian put forward the idea of "faith, similar, translation". The next three chapters build up the framework of his modern poetry theories from three angels:the metrical theory, the new folk song theory, and the translation theory on poems. This three theories form the contents of his modern poetry theories. The last chapter makes reflections on the significance of the theory of modernpoetic form from Bian.
