Screen Beauty: 20 Or 30 S Of The 20th Century The Produce And Construction Of Shanghai Film Actress

In the1920s, along with the development of China’s film industry, film movie stars were emerging in Shanghai, and they had been constructed by different discourses since the very beginning. In this essay, I’ll focus on the production and construction of the film movie stars in the1920s and1930s, and discuss the construction of their images by various public discourses and symbols, as well as the subjective responses of the film move stars. I’ll discuss the issues as followed:what historical context were the early film actresses born in and who are they? How did the external symbols and the roles they played participate in the construction of those actresses? How did the external forces shape the image of film move stars in different periods? And what subjective responses did they make when they confronted with the construction of the external forces?Besides with the instruction and the conclusion, the main body of this thesis consists of five chapters:The first chapter traces the context what the movie stars were born in; The second chapter classifies the source of the early female movie stars and discusses it’s influence on the construction of the female stars; The third chapter discusses how the external symbols such as clothing and names, as well as the roles they played, affected the construction; The fourth chapter discusses the construction from different external forces, including the reference of Hollywood, the press writers, the I eft-wing forces and the spectators, which had been multi-shaping the female movie stars; The fifth chapter discusses the self-construction of the female movie stars in the process of cooperation and resistance with the outside world.
