Through studying the derived-texts of popular historical dramas, this research is about to find out the new changes happened in the constructing mechanism of social memory today, as well as the impacts that media has on the constructing process. The derived-texts are not only a starting point of research, but also one of the new phenomena of the constructing mechanism of social memory. By examining the interactions between derived-texts and TV series, adding the historical discourses involved in the derived-texts, we can see how the discourse subjects participate into the constructing process of social memory. And then we can explore the media factors.This research has found that the influences TV dramas have on the construction of social memory nowadays, are exerted not only by the work itself but by the derive-texts, which discussing issues centered on the work as well.These derived-texts represent the discourse powers belonging to a number of subjects who are stepping from the historical background to the front stage. The reason why these social subjects are able to become participants of the construction of social memory, is that they get more and more rights of historical discourse, thanks to the development of media technologies and environments.This study uses the case study method, with the TV drama my commander my regiment as an individual case. It classifies and summarizes a large number of media documents collected for text analysis, and then gives explanations. This article contains three parts:Part I includes the introduction, literature review and research methods. Part2is the main part of the article, including the introduction of related history background, analysis of the discourses of derived-texts, the role of medium in the process. Part3is the conclusion.
