WuMingShi is a renowned writer in the field of Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literature. In the1940s, he produced <Bei Ji Feng Qing Hua> and <Ta Li De Nv Ren> and thus made his grand entrance into the literary field. Since then, he devoted15years of writing before he completed his masterpiece<WuMingShu Vol.6>.We can observe that there is an obvious trait in WuMingShi’s novels. Most of the themes revolve around Korean people. The fact that WuMingShi is capable of bringing out the characteral essence of Korean people is due to his direct contact with Korean people. It is especially true that he got most of his inspiration from his Korean friend, LiFanShi, who never fails to provide him with interesting recounts, and therefore the lively image of LiFanShi is being portrayed throughout his works.This essay sets out from an entire new perspective, it explains the process and reason of choosing LiFanShi as a character. Its main objective is to make a comparison between the image of LiFanShi in literary text and in reality, and thus examine the credibility of its sources.Chapter One discusses WuMingShi’s reason for creating the image of Korean people in his novels, dicusses WuMingShi’s friendship with the Korean interim government. Therefore, WuMingShi’s contact with Korean people definitely contributes to his inclusion of Korean people in his writings.Chapter2covers the theme on Korean people and the image created of LiFanShi. First, introduces the images of Korean people in his writings in his early and later works, and examine the plots and backgrounds in the stories. Section2and3puts the focus on LiFanShi himself, and analyse his image in <BeiJiFengQingHua> and<WuMingShu>.Chapter3sets out from the point of examining the credibility and verification between historical facts and literary writings. The historical image of LiFanShi is discussed in Section1. Based on LiFanShi’s image in <BeiJiFengqingHua> and<WuMingShu> as mentioned in the last chapter, Section2and3quote historical facts from LiFanShi’s memoir <Wu Dung Bul>, and discuss the whether it is similar to WuMingShi’s literary writings. In addition, we analyse the reasons for differences, and thus discover WuMingShi’s post romanticism style of writing.The conclusion summarizes the entire research and discusses about the significance of change in LiFanShi’s image throughout WuMingShi’s writings.
