Based On The Gem Model Weibo Discourse Structure Research

Microblog is a mini form of blogs which allow its users to post short messages through multi-media channels like web pages,mobile phones or instant chat tools. It also allows the posting of multimodal information such as pictures, audio and vedio files. So far research about microblogs in linguistic area have been focused on the phenomena of internet language using, rather than on a new discourse type it stands for. This paper is based on Bateman’s GeM model, combined with Mann&Thompson’s retorical and structure theory. A systematic and overall analysis is made related to the layout structure and retorical structure. The writing procedure can be concluded as following:Introduction part simply introduces the background and achivements of the study, as well as the intention, content, method and significance of this paper.The second chapter introduces the two main theory on which this research is based.One is GeM modal and the other is the RST theory. The former is a multi-layer frame for describing multimodal discourse; the latter is a famous retorical structure theory widely used to describe the linguistic discourse.Third, basic composition of a micro-blog is analyzed. This is the most notable distinctions to tell a multimodal discourse from linguistic ones, for the visualized features they own. Compositional factors distribute in diferent layers of GeM modal.The fourth chapter is the discription of layout structure of microblog, which is a topsoil structre of microblog discourses. The layout strcure is also the generic structure of microblogs.In the fifth chapter, the rhetorical structure is being described, on the basis of RST relation. As proved in this part, there are some common points shared by linguistic semantic system and multimodal semantic sytem.The final part is conclusion. In this chapter, the typical features of microblog discourse as well as the prospects of research in this area is concluded.
