Nicholas Barter brought his director workshop during the academicexchange activities of our university, which included the orthodox director trainingmethod of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Professor Barter also introducedRudolf Laban’s Movement Analysis into the dramatic training and creation, inventedthe Identity Position Training (Status Training)Method based on his teaching andpractical experiences for years, and extended “Stanislavsky nine question”.Hisdirector training method is unique and easy to practice, which can develop thedirector’s creative thinking through exercises.On the basis of in-depth studies of Professor Barter, and in combination with theauthor’s personal experience in this workshop, this paper is aimed to find out morescientific and efficient director training method and inject some fresh blood intodirector training after brief summary, introduction and thinking. Some of the author’sexperiences during the training of the students in this method are also included. Thecontent in this paper is of application value, which may provide some references fordirectors and other people working in the theatre circles studying in this aspect.
