It has been an obvious urban-rural dual system in our country for a long time. There is a clearurban and rural division.The gap of them is still very big and the three issues concerningagriculture, countryside and farmers is still outstanding.The current imbalance developmentrelationship between urban and rural areas in China has became one of the most prominentcontradictions of economic and social development, which has restricted the sustainabledevelopment of the economy and became a threat of social justice and the rural stability, even ofthe foundation of Chinese Communist Party will be weaken. Coordination of urban and ruraldevelopment is a scientific judgment and an important decision of the central party committee inthe new historical conditions situation. According to the research of the urban-rural relationstheory advocated by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, historical development, rural and urbanpresent situation and the main problem which our country is facing, this paper discusses thesignificance of the coordinated development between urban and rural areas under the guide of theurban-rural relations theory advocated by Marx and Engels. There are four parts in this text:Part1: This part discussed the origin of the research, analyzes the research situation at homeand abroad.This part is the basis and premise of the study. This part expounded the researchmethods and the main content of this paper.Part2: This part described the basic content of urban and rural integration theory of Marx andEngels and the definition of the urban-rural relations theory advocated by Marx and Engels.Through the related works regarding the relationship between urban and rural areas text, discussedthe basic contents of the urban-rural relations theory advocated by Marx and Engels, mainlyincluding: urban and rural separation is the inevitable trend of the development of productiveforces; the condition and the foundation between urban and rural areas; the influence of urban andrural opposition; the basic idea of urban and rural integration, etc.Part3: This part described the evolution of urban and rural relationship about China after thefounding, the analysis of the current situation of urban and rural relationship in China and thenegative influences of China’s current relationship between urban and rural areas, includingrestricts the sustainable economic development, becomes a threat of social justice and socialstability and weakens the party’s ruling the social basis.Part4: This part discussed the significance of the coordinated development between urbanand rural areas under the guide of the urban-rural relations theory advocated by Marx and Engels.Including a correct understanding of how to deal with the relations and it is a long-term process ofurban and rural integration; starting the system arrangement to realize urban and rural integration;carrying out measures of the industry compensates agriculture and city leads rural; promotingcoordinated development between urban and rural areas with the aid of modern science andtechnology, etc.
