As a former colony of the United States and its ally, Philippine South China Sea policy ledby its national interest. besides, the most important influence factor is the Asia-Pacific strategy ofthe United States.Japanese occupation of the Nansha Islands durying the World WarⅡtriggered the concernof the South China Sea in the Philippines. After the World WarⅡ,the cold war pattern wasformed, the United States began to carry out the “containment strategy” in the Asia-Pacificregion,the signing of the “peace treaty with Japan” which led by the US pave the way for thedispute of South China Sea between China and Philippines. With the advance of the cold war, theAsia-Pacific Strategy of the United States has experienced the evolution including the1950s and1960s “full containment”,the1970s “point defensive” and the1980s “return to the Asia-Pacific”.Correspondingly, after proposing its own South China Sea policy, the Philippines also continueits adjustment changes.Durying the1950s and1960s, its policy followed by the AmericanAsia-Pacific Strategy of anti—China and anti—communist, constantly asked the South China seaterritorial demands.However, the Philippines had kept on eroding our South China sea territoryin the strategy background of the US joint China resistance to the Soviet Union durying the1970s and1980s.After the Cold War, the main objective of the American Asia—Pacific strategy wascurbing the rising of China. Correspondingly, the Philippines continue to stir up trouble in theSouth China Sea region and actively promote the South China Sea issue international. At present,the US high—profile declare that it will return to the southeast Asia. in pace with it, the disputebetween China and the Philippines gets more and more intense. China should have a clearunderstanding of US—Philippines South China Sea policy and actively take correspondingmeasures.
