In contemporary society, economic globalization and regional blocs develop rapidly.In addition to the two major free trade zone in Europe and North America, East Asiancountries also launch efforts to build regional cooperation. After the Cold War, ASEANprogress rapidly; in the new millennium,"East Asian Community" is onto the stage ofhistory. Japan, as the sponsors of the "East Asian Community" building, the leader of theEast Asian economies, is showing the irreplaceable role in regional cooperation in EastAsia.Japan put forward the regional cooperation in East Asia is not a momentary whim, onthe contrary, Japan is concerned about the cooperation in East Asia and Pacific region for along time. Back in the sixties of the last century, Professor Kiyoshi Kojima proposedconcept of the Pacific free trade zone from the perspective of economic development.Masayoshi Ohira Cabinet period once determined the Pacific Rim cooperation concept asthe basic principle of Japan’s basic national policy and diplomacy. Takeshita Cabinetfirstly proposed the concept of "East Asia" cooperation and East Asia Economic Circle.The era of globalization, the Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Hatoyama Yukio from twodifferent political parties in Japan’s Prime Minister put the construction of the” East AsianCommunity" in an important position in the diplomatic considerations.In this paper, I will investigate Japan East Asia and Pacific regional cooperationconcept in different historical periods since the end of World War II, and to analyze thecontext and highlights of Japan’s postwar development of regional cooperation in EastAsia.
