In recent years, the Internet is developing rapidly in China, and the coveragelooks increasing at the same time. Therefore,a new member is added in the list ofchannels of political participation of China: online political participation. As we allknow, the Internet has obviously two faces: positive one and negative one, so doesInternet-based online political participation. How to play its positive role and reducethe negative impact more effectively has become a key issue which must be studiedand solved in the political community.Through a small-scale social surveys andintegrated some of the existing research findings, the study found that Chinese onlinepolitical participation gradually becomes increasingly rational and autonomous.Onlinedemocratic supervision plays an increasingly prominent role and extensive and equalonline political participations become the typical characteristics of mainstream. But atthe same time, China’s online political participation is also facing problems such asimproper online political participation which might lead to political instability, thegovernment`s insufficient preparation and substantive inequality of online politicalparticipation caused by the "digital divide". In order to play the positive role of onlinepolitical participation better and to reduce its negative effects, we should focus onimproving the relevant laws and regulation and strengthening the rule of law;promoting online-government reform; promoting the equality and justice of onlinepolitical participation by strengthening the software and hardware developments. Ifwe are able to continuously carry out appropriate treatments and adjustments to onlinepolitical participation of China to make it healthy and orderly, construction ofsocialistic political civilization with China’s characteristics must be accelerated.
