Since the beginning of the European Integration, the discussions about its model never stop. Several schools of various theories put forward their own views on it. And all of them can, in general, be formed into two types, namely "intergovernmentalism" and "supranationalism". The signing and entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty restarted this discussion. This paper will first examine the dominating paradigms of the European Integration. Then the paper will sort out the legal, institutional and organizational reforms and analysis the new changes brought by he draft EU constitution and the Lisbon Treaty in the EU integration process under a constructivism’s framework. After analysis the attitudes towards EU of the citizens of the member states in a quantitive method, the paper will explore the characteristics of EU after the Lisbon treaty. Finally, the paper will propose a "Post-Lisbon Model" to summarize the EU in the future development. |
