Electronic presentation is more convenient and distinguished in combination withpaper-based letter of credit., but a series of problems are appeared during thetransformation. According to letter of credit and electronic business, this article hasanalyzed electronic letter of credit and researched the legal problems, in order to promotethe widespread use of electronic presentation and make the current international trade moresafe and efficient.This article consists of four chapters. The first chapter expounds the history, the basicprinciples and the significant value of electronic letter of credit, and then analyzes thepractice patterns of the existing electronic presentation. The second chapter elaborates thelegislation on electronic letter of credit of countries around the world, and dissertates thelegal problems of electronic presentation, such as the legal effect of electronic signatures,the certification of electronic record, the effectiveness of electronic documents. The thirdarticle discusses how to actively respond to the legal issues previously mentioned. Theauthor advices that we should unify the international legislation, improve the system ofelectronic signature and electronic certification and so on. The four article discourseselectronic presentation in China, including the legislation, the practice and the direction ofdevelopment.Related to the imperfect and incomplete legal systems, electronic letter of creditdoesn’t have wide range of applications in the world. The study in this article could makeelectronic presentation and the international trade in China more developed.
