The Modernization Of Chinese Traditional Political Culture And The Citizen Political Participation

Political participation is not only an important mark of democraticpolitical development, but also the main way for citizens to exercisetheir political rights. Broadly and orderly political participation isespecially needed to promote the construction of China’s socialistdemocratic politics.Due to the efforts of the CCP and the government, the construction of socialist democratic politics has made remarkable achievements since the founding of new republic of China. However, there are some defects. Relative to the rapid development of the socialist market economy, the democracy political construction is slow, especially performance in the lack of citizens political participation. Besides the causes of economic and institution, the more important reason is cultural genes solidified in the Chinese which have gone through thousand years that restricting political participation. That studying the influence of traditional political culture on citizen participation deeply is importantly. Not only it could promote political culture of participatory, but also could expand orderly citizen political participation and could speed up the process of Chinese people change from “subjects” to “citizens".Docking elements from political participation and political cultureas a starting point to explore the associated part of the traditionalChinese political culture, its political participation, and as a basis,put forward the modernization of traditional political culture pointswith a bit of feasible of countermeasuresFirstly, the basic concepts such as "political participation" and"political culture" would be clearly defined and their relationshipwould be analyzed. Secondly, political participation factors that are contained in the traditional Chinese political culture would be stripped out to explore the impact of political participation from the positive and negative aspects.Finally, the modernization of traditional political culture wouldbe explored.
