Cambodia-Thailand Dispute On Border Issue In Case Of Preah Vihear Temple

Cambodia and Thailand are located in South East Asia, they are neighboring countries and both of them are the members of Association South East Asia Nations (ASEAN), sharing the border about800km long, sovereignty over large areas along the border has been disputed between Cambodia and Thailand. A piece of them is Preah Vihear Temple. This area has been long debated between Cambodia and Thailand since the very late19th century until the21st century. This issue became a hot topic again when the Cambodian government proposed the Preah Vihear Temple to inscribe the Preah Vihear Temple on the list of World Heritage Site by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in July2008which led to controversy between them and they failed to resolve the problem in bilateral framework and outcome to confrontation in2011.This paper focuses on Cambodia and Thailand Relations from the late19th century to the21st century by studying the domestic level of both countries and international situation which is related to their conflict, its effects to both sides and the neighboring countries and the paper will present the direction to resolve their conflict in the long-term via bilateral and multilateral means.
