As a big agricultural country, agriculture is the foundation of the nationaleconomy in China. The development of agriculture directly affect other parts of thenational economy development and the success or failure of the modernization drivein China. for a long time, our party and country has been trying to explore how tosolve the agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and always put it as the top priority ofthe party and state.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially after thecompletion of land reform, under the guidance of Mao Zedong Thought ofAgricultural Cooperation, China launched a large-scale agricultural cooperativemovement in vast rural areas, successfully guided the hundreds of millions ofindividual farmers to embark on the road of socialist collectivization. It furtheremancipated the rural productivity, food and other crop production was increasing inthose years. however, due to the complicated historical reasons, the agriculturalcooperation did not achieved the final success in China. From the eighties of lastcentury, China has adopting the Household Contract Responsibility System, whichunprecedented aroused peasants’ enthusiasm for production, the rural landscape hasundergone tremendous changes. But nowadays, China’s basic position of agricultureis still not strong, rural infrastructure is still weak, the lives of farmers is stilldifficult. Agriculture, rural areas and farmers are still plagued by the process ofChina’s reform and development.I think, China’s agricultural cooperative movementin the1950s did not achieve the desired results, but Mao Zedong Thought ofAgricultural Cooperation is a valuable wealth. And the experience of developedcountries also shows that the improvement in the level of the farmers’ organizationis the important way to promote agricultural development and to enhance thecompetitiveness of agriculture. Therefore, in the context of building a new socialistcountryside, the study of Mao Zedong Thought of Agricultural Cooperation hasimportant practical significance to rural economic development.This article is divided four chapters: The first chapter is the introduction, in this part we analyzed the study significance and research the status of Mao Zedongthought of agricultural cooperation. In the second part, we have studied thetheoretical source and the main content of the Mao Zedong Thought of AgriculturalCooperation, and summarized its significance. In the third part, we have carefullyanalyzed the experiences and lessons of the Agricultural Cooperative Movement. Inthe fourth part, we specifically addressed the important enlightenment of theagricultural cooperative ideology of Mao Zedong on the current rural economicdevelopment.
