The Hankow Japanese Concession

Hankow Japanese concession is the fourth concession that Japan established in China, and it was the most significant Japanese concession in China. Hankow Japanese concession was set up in16th July1898, and ended in30th March1943, which located in the north part of the five countries hankow concessions.Based on the literature research and related data analysis, this paper discussed and analyzed the development history, the main events and the management system of politics and city public facilities of Hankow Japanese concession. First of all, this paper analyzed the background of the opening of Hankow Japanese concession. It discussed the specific process of opening, expanding, boundary crossing and twice retreating of Hankow Japanese concession, and analyzed the background and the influence of these processes. Secondly, the paper analyzed the people and their main activities in the consular jurisdiction of Hankow Japanese concession. It discussed the population and occupation distribution in these areas, and analyzed the main events in Hankow Japanese concession from five aspects:religious activities, erotic and drug trafficking activities, economic activities, Sino-Japanese conflict and military action. Finally, from the public facilities of education and sanitary in Hankow Japanese concession and the management system of combining the consul and residence vigilante in Hankow Japanese concession, this paper analyzed the city construction and management of the concession, and researched on the characteristics and impact of Hankow Japanese concession.
