In terms of the importance of the Anglo-American special relationship, there is a lot of space for the study of this problem. Finally, I willelaborate the impact of the Anglo-American special relationship producing to the modern andcontemporary international relations, and explore its experience to us.The paper is composed of four parts. The study is divided into four parts. The first partdescribes the establishment and initial development of the Anglo-American specialrelationship, and analyzes its reasons. The key factor of the establishment of theAnglo-American special relationship lies in the national interests of the United States andBritain are largely consistent. The second part deals with the turmoil and decline of theAnglo-American special relationship. From the Suez Canal crisis since the mid-1950s,relations between the two countries alienated gradually, and the "natural relationship" replaced the "special relationship" in the1970s. This evolution of the Anglo-Americanrelationship due to changes in the international situation, the decline in the strength of theBritish, the Vietnam War, and the adjustment of the relationship between Britain and Europe, etc. The third part explains the revival of the Anglo-American special relationship. Since1980s, the United States and Britain support and cooperate with each other on containing theSoviet Union, the affairs of the East and the West, the Third World and North-South relations, which is the product of the change of the international situation and the political andsecurity needs of Britain and the United States. The forth part discusses and analyses thestrengthening and the limitations of he Anglo-American special relationship. After the ColdWar, the strategic partnership between Britain and the United States continues, but also facingnew tests and challenges.Through research, we find that on the one hand, the Anglo-American special relationshiphas the characteristics of natural and necessity, on the other hand, it also has thecharacteristics of inequality, two sides, and long-term. In this special relationship, Britain andthe United States are not on an equal status, the United States is in a driving position relyingon its powerful economic, military and technical strength, while the United Kingdom in apassive position. The similarities and differences of the interests is always the beacon ofrelations between these two countries. Overall, in the next few periods, the Anglo-Americanspecial relationship will continue to go on.
