Sanda, known as Sanshou,is an essential part of Chinese Kungfu and a kind ofWushu wrestling sport,in which two athletes, acting on some special rules, uses somehands fighting skills fight each other to defeat the opponent. It has been a long time for Sandato be improved constantly, which developed from the pilot study by the State SportsCommittee in 1979. For Shanxi Province,it is a great pity not to become a strong provincein Sanda,in spite of it’s earlier start and a batch of excellent Sanda athletes fostered there. The main reason for that is a lack of reserve talents and sound cultivating modes.Through literature consultation, questionnaire investigation, experts interviews andmathematic statistics,a thorough study of the current situation of reserve talents has beenmade, mainly including the study of coaches, athletes and facilities as well as thediscussion about problems in cultivating reserve talents. The result shows:1. Sanda,in Shanxi Province, features earlier start, slow development, lack ofreserve talents and unsound system of popularity.2. The cultivation of athletes has been going downhill for the capital and management ofthe respective Wushu schools as well as sports schools, where there are fewer students.3. For athletes, the contradiction between study and training,to great extent, restrictsthe development of reserve talents. Such problems also draw our concern as their educationalquality, their career and their employment after retiring.4. In cultivating reserve talents, there are many problems: unsound evaluation system, less communication with related scientific research institution, inadequate practice ofscientific training and recovery, incomplete training scheme set by coaches, less application of psychological consultation and single method of recovery.5. Such factors lead to the slow development of Sanda,as weak reserve strength, poorexperience in competitions and backward competition system.6. For coaches, there is still great room to improve their professional sills and overallqualities,to enrich their experience and theoretical knowledge,to make use of scientifictraining methods.7. The training support also displays its deficiency: insufficient funds, backwardfacilities, unsound information construction and unreasonable medical supervision.
