Teacher-student relationship is the most fundamental and important relationshipin education. The condition of this relation have direct influence on the educationquality and students’ healthy development. Thus the relationship between students andteachers is attracting more and more attention. In the late 1990s, the dispute about whether the subject of teaching is the teacheror the students die away and researchers began to study the teacher-studentrelationship from different perspectives, thus leading to the diversification of thestudy on this issue. At the same time, people’s way of living, their world outlook and values etc.became more diversified and they began to re-examine education from newperspectives which lead to the examination of the teacher-student relationship, whichreflects the basic process of education. Therefore, discussions focusing on the " newteacher-student relationship" had arisen in this period. The core of this "newteacher-student relationship" is to establish democratic, equal and harmoniousteacher-student relationship .From the mid of the 1990s, researchers began to apply some viewpoints fromtheories like communication theory, postmodernism, phenomenology, andhermeneutics to the establishment of teacher-student relationship. These theories areof from western philosophy and they are partly related to the educational philosophy. They seek to break the model of privative teacher-student relationship and try to studythis relationship from different perspectives. Some researchers tried to find theoreticalbasis for the new teacher-student relationship in the 21stcentury from philosophy, culture, ethics, pedagogy and even modern western hermeneutics and phenomenologyand they argued that the new teacher-student relationship in the 21stcentury featuresin democracy, equality and conversation. Later, some other researchers using thecommunication theory as the theoretical basis of new teacher-student relationship, put forward the idea that the interaction between people is a interrelation between subjectand subject. The teacher-student relationship in the traditional education is asubject-object relation or a relation between people and objects while it shouldbecome a relation between subject and subject in modern education. The newteacher-student relationship in this period is the interaction between teachers andstudents, this interaction advocates respect, understanding and caring as thefoundation. This paper attempts to establish democratic, equal and harmoniousteacher-student relationship through building effective teacher-student interactionbased on empathy , sincerity, acceptance and respect, make a good "first imprassion"and "oneself person effect". While there are many problems in the actual interactionbetween teachers and students which I summarize as low-effectiveness orineffectiveness in teacher-student interaction. The low-effectiveness or ineffectivenessin teacher-student interaction can be divided into two aspects: one is the alienation orindifference between teacher and student and the other is conflict between teacher andstudent. The severity of the low-effectiveness or ineffectiveness in teacher-studentinteraction badly calls for effective teacher-student interaction. In its elaboration ofthe establishment of harmonious teacher-student relationship through effectiveteacher-student interaction approaches, the thesis is divided into five parts:Part one is the introduction. This part introduces the reason for choosing this titleand the significance of the study and then analyzes existing related literature andexplains the methodology.Part two is an overview of teacher-student relationship. This part focuses on thedefinition, content, types and characteristics of teacher-student relationship andexplains the importance and necessity of the establishment of harmoniousteacher-student relationship.Part three is about the low-effectiveness or ineffectiveness in teacher-studentinteraction. This part analyzes the low-effectiveness or ineffectiveness ofteacher-student interaction in actual education from two aspects: the alienation orindifference between teacher and student and the conflict between teacher and student and calls for the establishment of effective teacher-student interaction.Part four is about the establishment of harmonious teacher-student relationshipthrough effective teacher-student interaction. Through the definition of effectiveteacher-student interaction and the effectiveness of teacher-student interaction, theauthor puts forward method of effective teacher-student interaction and introduces theconnotation and the skill of the method.Part five explores the practice of effective teacher-student interaction approachesbases on educational practice. The author practises the approaches of effectiveteacher-student interaction in educational practice and expounds the feasibility andpractical applicability of the establishment of harmonious teacher-student relationshipthrough a questionnaire.Teacher-student relationship is an everlasting topic in the educational field.Where there is education, there is the problem of teacher-student relationship.Teacher-student relationship is a key factor that influences the education quality andthe establishment of harmonious teacher-student relationship is the eternal pursuit ofeducation. The author hope to open up new view for the study of Teacher-studentrelationship through the perspective of effective teacher-student interaction.
