Since the70s of20th century, many experts have realized that learners are often distracted by affective factors in the process of second language acquisition, among which foreign language anxiety is one of the most important affective variables in it. However, some of the teachers haven’t attach enough importance to that. The essay was intended to analyse the causes of senior students’anxiety in English class and the relationship between anxiety and achievements in classrooms, so English teachers can find effective coping strategies to help students transform negative anxiety into positive emotional factors and motivation and improve the efficiency of classroom interaction.The writer selected145senior two students in her own classes as target students. Based on anxiety-related theories in the fields of psychology and second language acquisition,the writer measured and analysed the level of the students’anxiety by means of the questionnaire and one-on-one interviews. Meanwhile, the writer got to know that anxiety is a common phenomenon in English class and mainly focused on the classification, causes and impact of class anxiety. With the help of the previous research, five solutions were carried out as follows:arousing the students’interest by improving teaching strategies; creating a harmonious and supporting classroom environment; adjusting the standards of assessments; establishing a good relationship between the students and the teacher.As is shown in the experimental survey, students’anxiety, especially their fear of participation and assessment have been reduced as expected. At the same time, through the comparison of the students’grades in the nearest four monthly exams, the writer found that the coping strategies of reducing students’class anxiety were effective. It turned out that they can improve the efficiency and promote students’grades and achievements.According to the previous study, the authors suggest:focus on the students’ psychological problems, adopt more effective coping strategies,create a more harmonious language environment to involve every student in the classroom activities and improve the efficiency of their English study eventually.
