English is one of the most widely used languages plays an important role in the communication of international, the science technology, and the culture. In junior school learning English can not only help students understand the world, study the advanced knowledge in science and culture, spread Chinese culture, enhance the communication between the teenagers from the other countries, but also can provide more opportunities in education and career development. The ability to write effectively is becoming increasingly important in our global community, and writing has also become more important as tenets of communicative language teaching. That is, English composition is an important sign to measure the language knowledge; to improve the students’ writing ability is an important content of English teaching and an important means of promoting the comprehensive ability of language form. Composition assessment is also the key procedure for teaching composition, which plays a guiding role for the students, the decision to students’ linguistic competence. However, in the actual teaching, teachers focus only on writing training, the effect that the comment has on the improvement of student writing is as yet undetermined. In fact, composition assessment can not only make teachers understand the degree of students’ language master and writing level, but also promote the communication in minds between teachers and students. This paper offers a detailed analysis of the facilitative comment given by teachers to students’writing, and teacher’s preparation for writing comment, together with some techniques of how to write it has been taken into consideration. So, how to carry out effective composition assessment is worth researching.This research based on the question survey and real analysis has carried on the preliminary examination of the present situation and the problems of the ways of composition assessment of the junior middle school. This article has been selected256 students and a random sample of200composition books in the junior two of a middle school where I’m teaching. Based on the investigation, English composition assessment in junior school mainly appear the following four aspects:(1) monism of evaluation subjects;(2) single of evaluation pattern;(3) unilateral of evaluation content;(4) low of evaluation function.Based on these questions and interview to the teachers, this article proposes suggestions on the problems of comments on composition assessment:(1) building up an advanced evaluation idea;(2) keeping to a scientific evaluation principle;(3) establishing polydimensional evaluation goal;(4) incarnating the students’role in assessment;(5) progressing diverse evaluation pattern;(6) giving play to encouragement by using comment.
