Mental health education is an important part of quality education. It is based on the laws of individual physical and mental activities, using a variety of methods and measures to maintenance of students’ mental health and to promote good mental qualities.Self-esteem is the positive evaluation and experience about oneself. While implicit self-esteem is a kind of self implicit attitude. These years researches on implicit self-esteem especially on middle school students are becoming more and more popular.Numerous studies have demonstrated the close and complex correlationship between implicit self-esteem and mental health, especially between mental health and emotion. Thus, the purpose of the study is to explore the meaning of implicit self-esteem research to health education from the aspects of implicit self-esteem development and academic performance. The study selected80students from a middle school of Tianjin. Their ages range from13to17years old, in which women and men are half and half. All of them are healthy and have normal vision. Furthermore, all of them are dextral and can operate computer fluently. Ultimately, only61objects are valid for further research. And among all the61objects,31are men.In this research, grade and academic performing are two grouping variables. Meanwhile, by using the paradigm of subliminal attitude priming, the research collected the reacting time and accuracy before data processing. The research shows that:(1)When "I" is the priming word, students have shorter reacting time on positive target words than on negative target words. But when "he/she" is the priming word there is no difference between these two kinds of target words. The phenomenon shows the existence of implitic self-esteem.(2)Thc implicit self-esteem of students from different grades shows no defference. This means we can use the same method of implicit self-esteem education in different grades.(3) There is no difference between different academic performance levels, which shows that the implicit self-esteem has no relation to academic performance. This means we should explore other factors to improve implicit self-esteem instead of academic performance.
