Writing is one of the important parts of the English teaching, but it has often beenneglected in English class teaching in schools in china. Although language experts athome and abroad did a lot of research on English writing and teachers in high schoolspend lots of time in teaching how to write English articles, the students cannot writegood articles. From this, we learn that it is essential to study how to effectively helpstudents in senior high schools. Teachers usually teach some writing skills and presentsome fixed sentence patterns to students, hoping the students can remember them. Butit is not helpful for student in English writing effectively. Teachers usually presentsome sentence patterns and phrases to students, students cannot benefit a lot from suchguide without communication. In the width and depth of English learning, the abilityof cooperation and communication in learning English have been required in theEnglish Curriculum Standards for Senior Middle School. And teachers required todesign some activities to develop the cooperation and communication of students inlearning English. And students can experience and learn some useful way of learningEnglish. They also can improve their ability of comprehensive application of Englishduring the activities. So we found that teaching writing with cooperative learning, canpositively promote ability of students`writing.In this essay, at first, the relations between process approach writing andcooperative learning are discussed on the basis of the description of current situation ofwriting teaching. We analyze the relations between cooperative learning and theprocess approach. Furthermore, Constructivism Theory mentioned as rationale forwriting teaching. Besides, the definition and characteristics of process approach andcooperative learning as well as the application of the approach in senior high schoolare introduced. Based on this, we teaching specific writing with cooperative learningmode, students can gradually possess effable materials and internalize information.They can writing actively, effectively. In this way, they can learn how to gather material, and how to organize the whole writing, how to write qualified writing.
