The research is concerned about the problems and barriers in listening teaching of senior high school and some suggestions and implications are provided in this research. The English course standard declares that the language skills include receptive skills and productive skills. Receptive skills are listening and reading, and speaking and writing belong to productive skills. These four kinds of language skills are all important for people to communicate with each other. However, in china, English listening teaching has not been put on an importance place for a long time. The English teaching in senior high school especially for the listening teaching, there are many problems which are the obstacles for teachers and students. The negligence of listening teaching and monotonous teaching methods make the students lose interest and confidence in listening. Therefore, the most important thing is to find some approaches to improve listening teaching and learning. As to the research, questionnaires for students and the interview with teachers are designed to find out the problems in listening teaching. According to the research, the problems come out. For example, effective teaching methods are not sufficient and students are not fond of listening class because of their vocabulary limitation, pronunciation problems and so on. At the end of the paper, some suggestions are provided for the listening teaching.
