Objective: Since the study of national pupils’s physical activity is few and studymethods are rare.using acceleration sensor techonology, we can accurately andscientifically measure the the daily physical activity status and temporal distribution ofelementary students.Along with the relationship of the amount of physical activity andphysical shape, academic performance, to analyse the PE reformation and big playtimebreak policy impletation. Methods: Use acceleration sensor to measure physical activity of grade2throughgrade4pupils in Nanjing.Total wear time was7days, including5weekdays and2weekend days. The sensor record data every60s.Apply acceleration counts to classifythose pupils, and analyse the characteristics of their activities. At the sam time collect themorphological parameters of thoes pupils including heights and weights, using children’sBMI point of contact of Cole TJ as the evaluation standards to differentiate overweightlevel.Results:(1)In this survey, the obese boys are11.69%,girls are11.67%;and theoverweight boys are24.68%, girls are13.33%.(2) The average time of boys’ sedentaryis504.47min/d. girls’ is522.04min/d (p<0.05).The time of moderate and vigorousphysical activity is44.31min/d (boy) and39.04min/d (girl).(p<0.05),and it is below theinternational suggested standard (3) In weekdays, the sedentary time of girls areoutstandingly higher than boys,(girls are527.06min/d,boys are505.42min/d,p<0.05).Inweekends, the moderate and vigorous physical activity time of boys are lower thanweekdays (4) On weekdays, both in school and after school, the sedentary time areprimary,(boys in school are58.1%,76.0%; girls are62.2%,75.9%).The differencebetween in school and after school in same sex is remarkable.(5) At PE class, theamount time of mild physical activity are higher compared to PE class duration.(boys 37.8%, girls35.1%); on big playtime break, the sedentary time are higher(boys47.9%,44.8%);the moderate and vigorous physical activity in boys at PE are obviously higherthan those during playtime break.(p<0.01)(6) The moderate and vigorous physicalactivity time of obese children in weekends are25.91min/d while those of normalchildren are38.43min/d,(p<0.01).(7) Those children who have reached60min/d inmedium or more physical activity have better performance in math than those arenot.there is no obvious difference in chinese and english.Conclusion:(1) Those subjects have nearly10h per day of seating, far hgiher thanforeign peers.and difference exist between genders.(2) The average moderate andvigorous physical activity time are lower both in weekdays and weekends thansuggested60min/d,in weekends those are ever lower than weekdays.Body shape greatlyaffects the time consumed in physical activity in weekdens.(3) In PE and big playtimebreak, the average sedentary time are both over half of total time, boys’ physical activitytime are higher than girls.(4) Appropriate physical activity time may have positiveeffect on math performance, but no connection to chinese and english.
