The teacher’s opening remarks is the talk for introduction or guiding language. The main purpose of opening remarks is a teacher stimulating the students’interest in the course by simple words. Teachers should pay more attention to the design of the opening remarks in order to create a positive learning atmosphere. Teachers’opening remarks in English class usually involves two aspects:teachers and students, the two aspects promote mutually by communicating with each other. Here mainly analyzes the teachers’talk. The teacher prologue is a hot spot in classroom teaching study. Opening remarks in classroom teaching should be consistent with the content of text, having innovative points, flexible in methods, and cover the new information as much as possible so as to hold the whole class accurately. The teachers’opening remarks are so important that more thorough research should carry out to understand the language communication purpose of every teacher talk move.As a kind of genre analysis method, move analysis is a useful schema structure on discourse genre analysis aiming to understand the purpose of each language step. Based on this idea, this study uses Swales language move analysis to carry on the analysis for teachers’ opening remarks. The research for the move of teachers’opening remarks was carried on in English class of two senior high schools, Hongtong County Linfen City. The research was carried out by using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The process is entering into the classroom, recording, transferring and analyzing the recordings as well as the information of each move conveys. The purpose is to explore the moves structures of different opening remarks; summarize the move structure teachers generally used:find the creative and positive methods; know the present situation and the existing problems on teacher’s opening remarks in local English classroom; observe whether there is the phenomenons of missing and repeating of language move or not, discuss the reasons of these phenomenons from the aspect of teachers’age, gender and educational background. Then suggestions should be put forward to improve the teaching.Through investigation and study, this paper sums up the common way of local teachers introduction including five moves:Movel Greetings; Move2Task explanation; Move3Explaining (Step3A reciting or dictating; Step3B Asking activity for different aims; Step3C Teachers’Explanation); Move4Feedback; Move5Commands requiring. In teachers’ classroom discourse, move repeating and missing appears. It can be concluded that the choice of language moves serves for teaching process and teachers choose the move freely according to the situations of class; different age, social environment were also affect the choice of language moves. Therefore, some suggestions were put forward, so as to better the teaching work in the area.
