To foster scientific literacy of students for the purpose, the new curriculum reform ofchemistry requires reforming the traditional knowledge-based teaching and carrying outchemistry teaching based on fostering students’ basic concepts of chemistry. This thesis based on existing literature of the study on basic concepts of chemistry, develops on the theme of constructing students’ concepts of classification in high schoolchemistry teaching. Selecting “Chemistry1” of Luke (Shandong scientific) edition as ablueprint, the study makes a profound research on some aspects of constructing students’concepts of classification in high school chemistry teaching which is based on the basicconcepts of chemistry, such as teaching design procedure, the analysis of teachingmaterials, and the implementation of teaching, etc. The study also carries out practical testfor the teaching design procedure proposed in this thesis, as a result, the test indicates thatgood teaching results has been achieved. This thesis includes six parts. The main contentsare as follows:The first part clarifies the reasons for selecting the theme. This part points out thatcultivating students’ concepts of classification in high school chemistry teaching is able tomake a better implementation of the curriculum goal put forward by the new curriculumreform; to improve students’ learning ability; to be helpful in making all-rounddevelopment of students’ scientific literacy; to update teachers’ teaching ideas and topromote teachers’ professional development. The second part indicates the purpose and the task of the study. The third part describes the research review of the basic concepts of chemistry. Thestudy on the basic concepts of chemistry, both at home and abroad will be presented. Thethesis draws lessons from the essence of the study and discovers the gaps in the existingresearch. Then the research idea is determined. The fourth part introduces the theoretical conception of concepts of classification. Inthis part, the connotation, the characters and the value of scientific learning of concepts of classification will be mainly offered. The teaching design procedure based on constructingconcepts of classification will also be put forward, which includes teaching analysis, theformulation of teaching objectives, the design of teaching activities and teachingevaluation. The fifth part discusses the study on teaching practice. First, the teaching material“Chemistry1” will be analyzed overall based on constructing concepts of classification.Chapter Two will be used to make teaching design and carry out teaching. Three cases ofteaching design and three cases of implementing teaching will be given. An experimentalstudy based on unit testing will be carried out. The scores of the experimental class and thecontrol class will be compared and analyzed. Then, the factual basis of the theoreticalresearch will be found out.In the sixth part, the results obtained in the research will be summarized. Meanwhile, the limitations of the study will be discussed. Then, a basis for subsequent research will beprovided. The innovation of this thesis is mainly manifested in three aspects: Firstly, theconnotation, the characters and the value of scientific learning of concepts of classificationwill be analyzed. Secondly, the teaching design model based on constructing basicconcepts of chemistry will be proposed. The model will provide a basis for teaching designof cultivating basic concepts of chemistry. Thirdly, the module of "Chemistry1" will betaken as a case to carry out the teaching research of fostering concepts of classification. The existing research results will be examined through teaching test.
