With the development of table tennis and constant introduction of new rules, the technique of reserve in table tennis games has changed a lot,so a systematic research of modern elite table tennis players’ reserving technique becomes important. In this paper, through researching the specific indicators and technical means of 40 games that the world’s seven elite male athletes participated by means of literature data, video statistics, mathematical statistics and logical analysis, we get the following conclusion:1.Under the new rules, seven elite male athletes become more initiative in attack on serve, and bring this segment to a more;important position.2.The seven athletes use less of control after reserve, but pay more attention to attack after the forth service, which reflects integration of the second and the forth service in reserve.3.The pen-holder and knife gripper are even on usage rate and scoring rate during attack on serve, and the placement of ball in reserve is most of deep and short on the left table. There is no significant difference. The drop shorts of pen-holder are more popular than that of knife gripper except Wang Liqin, and long split are more popular among knife gripper that that among pen-holder except a Korean player Ryu Seung Min,while the cast technique used more among knife gripper.4.Nowadays,for the reserve, the control skills are more popular than attack skills. For catching shorts, players favor drop shorts, but the attack skills, such as long split, pick, screw etc.are also very popular.Besides, the players move more with these skills, the threatening effect for catching is much better.
