As a kind of green light source that can save energy and protect environment, LED haslots of advantages ,which are not replaced by other traditional light source, and it has verybroad application prospects. The LED optical system based on uniform illumination isdeviced, using the meshing method. What’s more, through the optical simulation thesuperiority of this optical system was verified. The details are described as follows:Firstly, the research background of the LED light source, the practical significance andthe prospects for the application of the LED lighting are introduced. Then, thedevelopmental history and the current research situation of the LED lighting are explained. What’s important, the main problems of using LED light source in the lighting area areprensented, at the same time, the main solutions are proposed.Secondly, according to the basic theory of geometrical optics, the law of reflectionvector form is deduced. A detailed introduction is made, that is the basic theory ofradiometry and photometry which will be use in lighting design. The theory ofnon-imaging optics is mainly described.Thirdly, after researches the LED optical system based on uniform illumination isdeviced. According to the basic theory of radiometry and photometry, also the parametersof the LED, the single LED illumination is calculated, and then the single LED model isestablished. Based on this theory, the illumination of the LED array is calculated. At thesame time, based on the characteristics of every array, the LED light source is constructedinto an annular array on a sphere. And then, the simple solid model of the LED array isbuilt using a mechanical design software. For the design of reflector, it is main work thatis improved the boundary conditions using the meshing method, the reflector’s surface ofthe LED lighting system is deviced to a free-form surface base on the non-imaging opticstheory, and the solid medol of the reflector is also built.Fanilly, the analogue simulation of this lighting system is finished using the opticaldesign software, the simulation results is selective analyzed. The effect of using thetraditional reflector and the free-surface refector are compared with, the conclusion is followed: by the meshing mothed, the free-surface refector meet the lighting requirementin the part of illuminance an uniformity. The feasibility of the free-surface reflector isverified, and a reference for the design of the LED lighting is provided.
