The LFMCW radar is a kind of radar which gets information of distance andvelocity through frequency modulation and it has the advantages of no range blind area,high range resolution, low emission power, simple structure and easy to be integrated.On the basis of theoretical analysis of LFMCW radar ranging principle and performance,the paper, which relied on the project “high-precision LFMCW radar experimentplatform”, completed the project requirements including program design, hardwaredevelopment, software implementation, system correction and test.The main research contents and work are as follows:(1) Presented the basic components and ranging principle of LFMCW radar,analyzed the beat signal both in time domain and frequency domain and then focused onthe analysis of the factors, including the FM linearity, the FM bandwith, FFT points andso on, which affect the range resolution of radar when using “Homodyne-Fourier”structure in signal processing.(2) Accomplished the design of LFMCW radar ranging system:①Analyzed and simulated the RF front-end, proposed a “cross-eight sectionsopen-loop correction method” based on open-loop correction method to correct thelinearity of2.0GHz FM bandwidth and the result met the indicator.②Designed and accomplished the signal processing module, proposed and appliedthree technical measures including time window, synchronization technique andfrequency window.③Accomplished the design of radar control-display system, including the building ofthe hardware platform and the programming of master control procedure.(3) Accomplished the manufacture, installation and debugging of radar system,finished the system calibration and field testing.The experimental results show that the LFMCW radar ranging system designed inthis paper works stably and all the performance indicators meet the projectrequirements.
