The Application Of The Pma In Zhejiang Unicom Product Management System

At present, with increasingly more customer requirements for telecom products, Telecom operators have to develop new profitable products which can better meet customer requirements. In telecom business operation support system (BOSS), products data and relating business processes are dispersed in different subsystems. However, under the situation of shorter product life cycle and more product varieties, this kind of product management has caused many operation management problems. Product management system can offer more flexibility to modify services, resources, charges, and products configuration, thus to realize quick product development and customization.Zhejiang Unicom Product Management System is showed as an example in this article, and the current problems of product management are analyzed, such as low management efficiency, long business approval process and "Information Isolated Island". The result shows the necessity of the development of product management system. Besides, the functions of product management system and the main processes of product planning and configuration are discussed on this foundation. Then, the structure of product management system is proposed, and the system is designed by the method of MVC. Some subsystems are specified, such as the managements of product life and index. This article also emphasizes on how PMA workflow engine realizes various processes managements before the product is released, thus to obtain final automation of product management via automatically creating task templates, defining roles of various departments and automatically promoting the process. In the end, the performance and security of the system are elaborated.
