Fiber Bragg grating (FBG), as one of the most rapidly developed and widely used fiber optic passive components in recent years has been used extensively in optical filters, dispersion compensation, wavelength division multiplexing, optical add-drop multiplexing, optical routing, optical sensing, fiber laser, optical characterization testing and other aspects.The project of this paper aims to develop and design a new broadband fiber grating tunable filter to make a technological breakthrough in filter width and tuning spectral width, and to complete the whole production of the filter design according to the practical standard to fill the gaps of such products in the market. The system adopts intelligent micro-controller to tune the reflected wave field by adjusting the axial stress to change the refractive index value of FBG. The application of precise digital controlled drive motor ensures high-precision tuning as well as repeatability and stability of the filter. Meanwhile a wide range of wavelength tuning of the filter is achieved. Compared with manual tuning fiber Bragg grating filter in the current market, this system possesses with many advantages such as high precision and favorable stability.The second feature of this system is wavelength locking. User can input the wavelength value from a panel, and the system will automatically track locked to the wavelength value; when the external environment lead to changes in wavelength shift, the system can automatically identify the wavelength changing and make adjustments accordingly, so that the wavelength can keep stability.This paper mainly accomplished the following researches.1. Carried out system requirements analysis and designed the overall structure of the system;2. Designed hardware circuits and related optical path for fiber Bragg grating filter according to system requirements;3. Completed the high-precision, intelligent and tunable fiber Bragg grating filter;4. Achieved wavelength automatic tracking function;5. Completed the FBG filter instrumentation work with excellent man-machine interactive operation.
