Wireless communications has been rapidly developed in today’s world. Taking use of wireless communications to provide data services application has been not only a new hotspot of communication, but also essential to our daily life as a communication means. Especially mobile phones dominated mobile communication terminals. However, short-range wireless voice communication has an advantage over the mobile communication that is low overhead, especially meet the needs of fire rescue, that is stable, small and low overhead. This thesis designed a new wireless voice communication system that is based on the nRF24E1, for the environment need of fire rescue short-distance voice communications.First of all, the thesis described the WLAN, Bluetooth, UWB, ZigBee and radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies which belong to short-range wireless communications technology. Secondly, a solution to choose appropriate wireless chips was introduced. After that, a new wireless voice communication system was designed and implemented. The performance of various types of wireless transceiver chips was carefully compared, so the nRF24E1 chip was selected as the system main chip. The system can meet the requirement of low power, low cost for fire rescue short-range wireless communications products. Then characteristics of the main chip nRF24E1 and working procedure of the radio frequency module were described in detail. The chip nRF24Ei integrates a 2.4GHz radio transceiver nRF2401, an enhanced 8051 micro processing unit and a 9-path 10-bit ADC so that it is quite easy to do designing. Finally, a new solution on wireless short-range communications software protocol was proposed, including software process, frame structure, synchronization of master and slave machines, error control, etc. Programming language was Keil51 C for single-chip-machine and the compiler wasμvision.
