Global illumination algorithms are at the heart of photo-realistic imagesynthesis. However, to a certain extent, when you use those traditional algorithms, the high cost usually associated with them has limited their use in real-timeapplications. In the case, a solution for the transport among diffuse surfaces instatic scenes called Precomputed Radiance Transfer has emerged and can be used inreal-time rendering. So In this way, we can project the geometric relationship or theInter-reflection into some linear bases in the precomputed process, then transformthe integral operations into the coefficient operations of those linear bases, so wecould compute the exitance for each vertice.Actually, we have a lot of choices to pick up our own linear bases. In thispaper, we will make thorough research into the Spherical Harmonic theory and itscorrelative properties, dispay the geometric structure and characteristics ofspherical harmonics in several ways intuitively, and apply the spherical harmonicfunctions into the pre-computed process of the light transport. Moreover, we willimprove the rendering effects by optimizing some algorithms’ properties wealready have, and in the final, we could cope with the real-time rendering alongwith enough speed at the same time.
