The real-time detection of level occupies an extremely important position in real life and scientific experiments. Especially in modern industry, the technology of level real-time detection and automatic control is essential, for example, material level real-time monitoring of the coal washing plant; raw material level real-time monitoring of chemical companies; grain stored real-time monitoring of the granary, etc. However, existing level detection technology is often subject to the constraints of their own shortcomings and usable conditions, such as high production costs, cumbersome installation, maintenance difficulties, the impact of the external environment, the signal transmission of susceptible to interference, and so on. For these problems, the paper researches and designs thermal digital level real-time detection system. After reading a large number of domestic and international literature about level detection technology, have discussed deeply from the function, price, reliability, installation complexity, negative impact on the measurable environment, usable conditions of existing level detection technology, and the development of thermal technology at home and abroad. Finally, have proposed a program to detect level using thermal technology and designed the thermal digital level real-time detection system.The paper details the overall structure of thermal digital real-time detection system of the level, thermal digital level sensor design, system hardware design, system software design, hardware and software testing and experimentation. The completed work includes as the following:(1) For the problems of other level sensors, have designed a thermal digital level sensor, and composed of a real-time monitoring system of the level using the sensor.(2) Have designed the MCU hardware circuits of real-time detection system. It includes the data acquisition circuit, display circuit and power circuit, etc. And have detailed the working principle of thermal digital level sensor and the selection process of the important components in the design segment.(3) Have written running the program of the guest machine and the host computer and the communication software between them.(4)Have completed the system hardware debugging, software debugging and the related experiments and analysis. And have verified that the system is able to complete real-time detection of material.(5) Have proposed the segments where need to improve and the improvement program.The entire system includes data acquisition, system control, digital display, serial communication and PC data display. Uses the thermal digital level real-time detection system to detect the material level, which can reduces the requirements of measurable environment greatly, and reduces installation and maintenance of measurable system, as well as the human and material resources. At the same time, the system is able to achieve long-range detection of level, which reduces the contact time of the measurement and toxic materials. The thermal digital level real-time detection system designed in this subject has achieved the level of real-time detection and provided a new measurable method for the level detection. Therefore the system has some reference value to the development of future industrial and automatic systems.
