With the rapid development of industry technology, the processplant is becoming more sophisticated, and the quality demand ofindustrial products is higher. So the traditional PID controller commonlyused in industry control is generally insufficient. Under the circumstance, all kinds of researches on advanced control theory are more mature andsome of them have been applied for complex industry process. Themodel-free adaptive control (MFAC) discussed in this paper isindependent of model, and has the characteristics that its structure andparameters setting is simple. So the algorithm is suitable for the processplant which is difficult to build model. This paper focuses on the application of MFAC, and introduces theMFAC theory and its status of development. In addition, for differenttypes of models, some simulations based on MATLAB are done toconfirm its control results. The conclusion is that the step response andcapacity of resisting disturbance of MFAC controller are better than PIDcontroller, especially for the nonlinear model whose structure iscomplicated. For solving the noise jamming problems existing in the realindustrial sites, a kind of filtering algorithm called particle filtering isstudied preliminarily. The simulations about state estimation indicatethat particle filtering was more effective than Kalman filtering. For testing the practical utility of MFAC, the TE model is treated asthe simulation object which is broadly used in designing the controlstrategies. The MFAC is compiled as a universal module on MATLAB,and then is applied for TE model. Moreover, the parameter setting andeffects testing are finished. Finally, the control system is complemented by using theSMPT-1000(Super Multifunction Process Control Training System) ascontrolled object and using Siemens PCS7as control tool. The systemconfigurations include hardware, CFC, and HMI. MFAC module isdeveloped using the programming language SCL from PCS7itself. Themodule is used to control the temperature of outlet steam and receivesgood results. At the same time the engineering practice abilities areimproved.
