Bank outlets bring us lots of convenience, and bring in a lot of headaches to themanagers. To protect the safety of customers and to prevent ATM crime, Video SurveillanceSystem is set up. But the current network videos are mainly standard definition (SD) videos,the image details can not be effectively resolved, and the network transport stream formatsare very limited. Therefore, the application of high-definition (HD) video is at full clock.With the development of embedded system technology, coding standard technology andnetwork technology, the HD system becomes popularity. A net camera can modify streamsaccording to bandwidth. Each camera has an unique IP address and can be connected to thenetwork independently, so it is suitable for unified monitoring.A high-definition net camera based on the high-performance TMS320DM368(aDaVinci SoC) is designed in this paper. This camera is consist of power management, videocodec and net transport modules. For further upgrade of this camera, an interface isdesigned for video input. This system realizes the720p30fps@H264, and visual intercomboard is designed for emergency.The main tasks are: First of all，introduce the research background and the state of theresearched topics，including the development of DSP and the DaVinci technology, the videocoding technology, transport technology. Secondly，describe the hardware design in details.Then make a necessary analysis and explanation for all modules of this system，includingPower management and real time subsystem, DDR2memory module, NANDFLASHmemory module，video capture module and reset module. Then，the software design isdescribed in this paper，including Embedded Linux development environment，Boot loaderdesign，Embedded Linux kernel Porting. Finally，the work on this paper and the existingdeficiencies are summarized.
