With the arrival of ubiquitous knowledge environment, the amount of library literature resources in university grows rapidly. Rich network resources, electronic resources and database resources are building a new information environment around the university library, at the same time, users’ needs will be constantly changed. As well as users’ needs change, the innovation of library services concept also get imperative. Learning Commons (LC for short), which is from abroad, is a new service model to support both individuals’ and groups’ study and research activities and an integration of space, resources and services. Under the knowledge environment, LC adapts to the concept of free access and dissemination of information, sharing and innovation of knowledge. Also it is in line with our philosophy of university education reform, which is from the traditional education indoctrination style to the constructivist learning style. In China, Information Commons (IC for short) was introduced to the Library field in2005. Afterwards, academic research about it quickly gets hot, and subsequently some universities try to explore and put it into practice. With the development of theory and practice, Information commons gradually branches a beautiful flower--Learning commons. The paper firstly does a survey on the web pages of domestic and foreign university libraries LC and sums up features and experiences about them. Secondly, combined with the actual situation of the construction of the LC in China universities, the paper designs our unique University Library Learning Commons theoretical model with scientific model building method---the SSM. This theoretical model includes three modules of space, resources and services, and each module also contains a variety of factors. The model analysis the energy and material exchange among different modules and different factors. Finally, based on the theoretical model, the paper presents specific strategies to build our learning commons entities, and points out several issues that we should pay attention to during the building process.
