Nowadays, the concept of the SmartHome, appears on kinds of media frequently, is becoming increasingly well-known by people. Recently, there are various of statements on SmartHome, such as Electronic Home, Network Home, e-Home, Home net/Networks for Home, Digital family, Home Automation, Intelligent home and so on. Despite its name is varied, but the core concepts and the functions of it are the same roughly. The Smart Home is defined for the use of computers, combines with wiring technology and network, through some kind of the family information management platform (can also be understood as the gateway) and combination of various subsystems of home life(household appliances, residential within the operational things) into a system. Another way we can say, first of all, all these systems will need to set up a full coverage of communication networks at home, to provide the necessary communication for family information, under the control of home network operating system, by the appropriate hardware and software, with these conditions, not only in order to make our family environment is full of convenience, but also to test our a variety of devices, and achieve a whole concept. Secondly, they have to communication with the outside world by a certain media platform to achieve and convey information with someone outside the scope of family. With this feature, we will not just confined to control within the home range, while on the way home or in the office, you can also keep control of controlled resources at home within the system, the greatest benefit of this is environmental protection. for example, we can close our heating or air conditioning in room; after we leave the house for some distance, the home’s heating system or cooling equipment will automatically shut down, is such an intelligent interaction, making the concept become particularly important. In summary, All of these concepts, the ultimate goal is to let people have a safe, convenient, comfortable and conforms life, and meet the requirements of green environmental protection.As for the iPad’s application"SmartHome", with the guidance of software engineering principle, the thesis analyzed the software plan seheme, and completed the design and implementation of the software. The main works of this thesis are as following:1. Introduce various of technology, such as Objective-C, iOS user interface design, etc.2. Introduce the functional requirements of the11kinds of household appliances, and design the encoding format for each device. 3. Focuses on the basis of the iOS user interface design and how to design my application interface. Introduce the independent style of interface of my application and explain the code about them.4. Explain the code of the communication and log, and tells how to test the functions of gateway and log.
