With the development and application of science and technology, the automation level of industrial assembly line is strengthening. At present, in modern packaging and printing industry, packaging (such as plastic printing, slitting machine, coating machine, printing) basically achieved automation. However, the strip will appear horizontal deviation in the process of unwinding, winding and transmission. So it requires a set of deviation control system for strip to online track and timely correct the horizontal position in the process of transferring. This paper is the study of the deviation position detection system which is at the front of deviation control system, an image sensor technology is introduced into the deviation position detection system, extracting the image information of deviation strip, realizing recognition and track of the edge of the strip, surfacial printing line or different color zone boundary. A method is proposed to solve the problem that the contrast of strip edge and background color, surface printing line with a background color or different color zone boundary is small and not easy to identify. Using TFT liquid crystal screen display, it can not only display the deviation image for the deviation material observation, but also be convenient for system visualization operation.This paper discusses the design and implementation of the the deviation position detection system and the test method. Deviation position detection system takes STM32as main controller, implementing the functions including collection of deviation image, the obtainment of image maximum contrast, the recognition of deviation image, external settings and signal conditioning. The collection of deviation image consists of there parts:CMOS image sensor module, two-way transceiver and TFT liquid crystal display module. The8bit parallel port of CMOS image sensor module output deviation image data flow, displaying in TFT screen through the two-way transceiver, the STM32processor read a few lines of deviation image data from the screen, implementing the collection of deviation image. The obtainment of image maximum contrast includes the design of light source module, deviation image maximum contrast algorithm and the design or research of most suitable light source search algorithm. The light source module is mainly based on the R, G, B three color mixed light principle, different light can be obtained by different ratio. So it changes the contrast of strip between the background color and front color, and gains maximum contrast of deviation image for subsequent identification. The recognition principle and software design method are given in the recognition of deviation image. External settings and signal conditioning part is composed of TFT liquid crystal display module, keyboard control and status display circuit, external conditioning circuit. It implements external setting in the collection of deviation image, obtainment of image maximum contrast and the recognition of deviation image. On one hand, it turns the recognition result into standard industrial signal that controller can handle, On the other hand, the use of TFT LCD screen is an important feature for system control, it realizes the visualization system operation and convenient for operator and system communication.Finally through the test to the system functions, this system realizes detection and tracking to the deviation image line or edge.
