| CCTV English Channel experiences many revisions and adjustments of different scaleand extent from its first broadcasting on September25th,2000. The most outstanding one isthat it was in the successful transition from English international channel (CCTV-9) toEnglish news channel (CCTV-NEWS) for the first time on April26th,2010. It became the firstforeign language news channel in China and its channel sign, propagate slogan and the wholepackaging design also happened to adjust considerably so that attracts many scholars’attention in the field of journalism and communication, which has a deep influence and animportant meaning. After the revision, CCTV-NEWS tries to emphasize its internationalcharacteristics in the light of its whole effect. It presses closer to overseas audience’s habits ofwatching TV at the aspects of report methods and program design, which is full of sparkle.It’s nearly two years since the revision, which develops stably and good, and the quality ofnews is more and more obvious. It plays a more and more important role in the field ofinternational news competition. Therefore, it’s well worth researching.Using the methods of literature, case analysis, statistical analysis and comparativeanalysis, it’s found that CCTV-NEWS has a foothold on Asia and takes a global and broadview. Its location is clearer and it accords with actual conditions. Meanwhile, according to asampling survey and case analysis of chosen programs, its program arrangements prioritizemore rational and orderly. Its packaging design, report concept and hosting style get closer tothe international standards gradually. Although there are many obstructions in the future, itsdetermination to change is very clear. It not only tries to enhance and glorify Chinese nativeculture and to build a good national image, but also tries to raise the quantity of reports aboutimportant international news events to send out more voices of China and Asia for thepurpose of improving its central competitive strength of international public opinion. It wantsto show the world a new China from a viewpoint of the East. We can say, the birth ofCCTV-NEWS means a very important and meaningful historic change in the developmenthistory of Chinese international communication, which advances actively the innovation andtransition of communicational train of thought. |
