The Comparative Study On Eastern Japan Earthquake Reports

Following with every great disaster, the aftermath, how nations and people fight with the disaster, people’s response and attitude on the tragedy would be focused by the whole world. And then reports on the frame medias would be the best way for the world to acquire messages on the whole situation. For China, the characters of the nation’s culture, economy and politic determine the Chinese valuation on news. But as the globalization of economy, politics and culture, Chinese media should research and study other nation’s advanced valuation on news to make our nation’s reports on disaster successful.On this thesis, author take the eastern Japan earthquake as the model of typical disaster, through the comparison on the reports about the devastating earthquake and tsunami on "People’s Daily "and "New York Times" to find out the reason of the difference. Finally, author makes some advices on Chinese media’s choosing of disaster news value.In first chapter, author mainly introduces the cause and meaning of the topic, the literature, key points and the innovation. The eastern Japan earthquake is known as the greatest disaster in2011; meanwhile, it became the focus for the world. In front of the disaster, media all over the world response rapidly and try their best to make full-scale reports on the quake. On this matter, media’s lash-up ability and report ability could be well checked.In chapter2, author give an introduction on the definitions of disaster, news on disaster and news value on disaster news. News on disaster which is always of great importance for readers and media has great news value.In chapter3, introduction of status on Chinese and American reports on disaster. Author compare reports about the quake in "People’s Daily" with those in "New York Times", and analyze from6different angle such as time of reports, quantity of reports, topic, and finally summarize the reports on the eastern Japan earthquake.In chapter4, deep reasons of the difference are discussed, and the author give some advice on reports on disaster of Chinese media that we should make more reports on disaster and try to reduce the political trend in order to form a more rational situation on reports on disaster.
