At present, the amount of data transmitted over the IP network is growing, more andmore services carry a lot of business which demands real-time, reliability. The Best-EffortService Model of traditional IP network is far from meeting the requirements. Therefore, it isof great practical significance to provide guaranteed QoS service for important andhigh-priority business.The basic element of network is the network device. End-to-end QoS in IP network relieson the combination of QoS policies of network devices in the network. Network QoS policiesand solutions must be deployed to the network equipment to take effect. The current situationof network management is that network devices from different vendors support QoS indifferent ways and the management and control methods are different. Device managementsystems introduced by various manufacturers are special systems, they are not universal. It issignificant to mask the underlying differences and unify control and management of networkdevices, end-to-end QoS guarantees.To solve this problem, the paper studies on a solution to unifying configuration and QoSguarantee control of network devices. We are aiming to mask the diversity of network devices,to provide a unifying operation interface, and to apply different QoS policies according todifferent business requirements and different real network environments.Basing on the NETCONF protocol, the paper develops a network device QoS guaranteecontrol system. The NETCONF protocol is a network configuration management protocol ofnew generation, it is in XML format encoding scheme. Compared with traditional networkconfiguration management protocol, NETCONF protocol has a more powerful networkconfiguration management capabilities, and is the industry-recognized configurationmanagement protocol of next generation。The system uses the model library of independent packet to distinguish between differentnetwork devices. It develops a packet model for each type of network device, constructs theactual protocol packets according to the model, and sends commands to the network device tocontrol network devices in a unified way.The paper also combines the system with the specific application of video conferencing,and analyses the IP QoS mechanisms to protect the video conferencing business flow.Coolview is a video conferencing system developed by Communication&ComputerNetwork of Guangdong Province, South China University of Technology. We do someexperiments on Coolview and the QoS guarantee control system. Experiment results show that we have achieved the design objectives.
