With the development of society, the applications based on wirelesssensor network get broader. The background of this paper is the project ofWSN node development and networking application and the task is todesign and achieve a sensor node with high performance and low-powerconsumption. The solution is proposed from hardware and software levelrespectively by analyzing detailed requirements of the project. As for the hardware level, this paper uses16low-power TexasInstruments MSP430F1611chip and Chipcon CC1100radiofrequency chipto design and implement the WSN nodes. First, the circuit of hardware partis designed according to the requirements of low-power consumption andcharacteristics of mainstream chips are compared and analyzed. The modelof board-level chip and hardware architecture are confirmed in the end.Based on this work, the board-level circuit is designed by referring to thedatasheet and then the circuit of communication connection module GPRSis designed and implemented. The software module is designed according to the Contiki, the operatesystem of open source wireless sensor network. First, the OS kernel isstudied and then the transplantation technology is analyzed deep. Finally theOS is transplanted to the MSP430hardware platform successfully throughhierarchical and modular method. On the basis of built of hardware/software,the GPRS communication module, wireless mesh network and tree networkwere implemented, and the MAC layer protocol is modified according to thelow-power consumption requirement. At the same time, the interactivecommand-line application module was designed to use and debug easily. Finally, the system functions are tested, including e-mail function testand network test. The sensor data is sent to the remote data management and uploaded to the backend server by GPRS. The good results of network testshows that the system completed the expected target. The resultsdemonstrates that the design of wireless sensor network nodes in this paperhave some practical value.
